Private utility location: Four Oaks Geophysics deploys Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Induction Electromagnetics (IEM) and Passive Electromagnetics (PEM) on all utility location projects. Typically our services are considered Private Utility Location because we are not a “One Call” service. We locate all possible utilities within the site area, whereas a “One Call” service will only mark up to a meter of the publicly owned utility.

811 Mark Out Confirmation Mark Outs: "One Call" mark outs are required by law before you break ground. Four Oaks Geophysics cannot be supplemented instead of a "One Call". However, sometimes the markings of the One Call service are not very accurate. Four Oaks Geophysics is able to follow the "One Call" mark out with an accurate utility locate.

Boring and Test Pit Clearance Locates

During environmental investigation of a site, borings for soil samples, ground water samples or to install wells are a necessity for environmental firms to get an idea of the site and to start treating the identified contaminants. Four Oaks Geophysics understands that sometimes it is not in the budget to locate all utilities on a property or it is simply not necessary. That is why we offer boring clearance services. These services will provide our clients with a mark out of the intended boring location and a ten foot radius around this point. Four Oaks Geophysics will mark all identified utilities within this area on the ground surface and also mark the extents of the radius with white paint so you can drill in confidence. Four Oaks Geophysics will approach test pits in a similar way. We will ask our clients to mark out the extents or walls of the proposed excavation prior to the investigation date or the morning of. Then, Four Oaks Geophysics will investigate this area plus approximately ten feet beyond each wall of the proposed test pit. In too many cases, our experience has shown us and taught us that if something dangerous is going to be near a dig area, it is going to run just outside the proposed pit and that pit will be shifted on the day of the dig.
